Cindy Sherman has contributed a photograph from her Untitled Film Stills series to adorn a limited-edition porcelain tray designed exclusively for the Sundance Film Festival. Despite the fame of Sherman’s Untitled Film Stills, this photograph has rarely been seen. The tray sells for $150.
- Rashid Johnson – Three Rooms is at Kunsthalle Winterthur (Switzerland). Johnson’s frequent use of the color black translates here on the walls of the main hall, painted black for the first time in the Kunsthalle’s history, and featuring a selection of hanging pieces by the artist. Closes January 25.
- The Hammer Museum (Los Angeles, CA) is developing a model for collaborative, offsite arts programming, in collaboration with the Art + Practice Foundation (A+P), a new art and social service organization created by Mark Bradford, the philanthropist and collector Eileen Harris Norton, and the social activist Allan DiCastro. - Jacolby Satterwhite gave Interview magazine a tour of his 3D animations. “I’m always testing out the potential to mediate the body between these technologies, but my body is definitely an extremely necessary component.” says Satterwhite. “But the thing is, it’s only a component. I don’t build illusions around the body. What my body is doing [on screen], that’s real.”
