Season 4’s Jenny Holzer was in the news a lot last week! The text-driven artist created created a footstool to benefit the NYC AIDS Memorial, opening this fall at St. Vincent’s Triangle. She also won a million-dollar LED art commission for San Francisco’s new Transbay Transit Center. The installation will combine the artist’s texts with that of Bay Area authors. Also this week:
- Theaster Gates announced his plans to transform a former Chicago police station into a community art center.
- An eight million dollar Jeff Koons sculpture, Coloring Book #4, arrived in Sacramento last Friday outside the NBA arena.

- A new exhibition of work by Julie Mehretu opened last week at Marian Goodman Gallery, where it will remain on view through October 29th.

- LOS ANGELES—GUNS, an exhibition on the gun debate, opened at the Loft at Liz’s last Saturday. It features work by John Baldessari, Shepard Fairey and Ed Ruscha, among the 23 artists selected.
