Blenheim Art Foundation announced this week that artist Jenny Holzer has been selected to exhibit new works at the UK’s historic Blenheim Palace this fall. She is first woman artist, and only the fourth artist ever to be chosen to fill the 18th-century Palace with contemporary art. Past featured artists include Ai Weiwei, Lawrence Weiner, and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
Holzer will create new work for the palace, including text carved into stone, LED light pieces, projections, and installations using black mondo grass. “My first visit to Blenheim Palace left me with too many ideas, on the complex past and its relevance to this knife-edge present,” the artist told the Guardian.

- A new exhibition of work by Josiah McElheny entitled The Crystal Land opened last week at White Cube. Described as a narration “of the artist’s efforts to visualize alternative histories of Modernism,” the exhibition is on view through April 13. [Read a review in the Evening Standard.]
- The large-scale exhibition American Dream: pop to the present is opening this Thursday, March 9 at the British Museum. Featuring work by Jasper Johns, Louise Bourgeois, Kara Walker, Andy Warhol, Glenn Ligon, and Ida Applebroog among others, American Dream is open through June 18. [Read a review in the Guardian.]
