The United States Artists, a Chicago-based foundation devoted to supporting the arts across nine disciplines, has named Abigail DeVille and Pepón Osorio among the 45 artists and collectives comprising the 2018 fellows. A $50,000 grant accompanies the fellowship, which recognizes contributions to fields such as craft, dance, writing, and the visual arts, among others.

- Trevor Paglen is among the 40 international artists participating in the World Economic Forum’s 48th Annual Meeting in Davos this week. The artists will be joined by leaders in business, government, and the media to discuss the theme, “Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World.”
- For the artist’s second collaboration with the Skateroom, Paul McCarthy has designed a set of eight skateboards. Launched at Hauser & Wirth, the limited edition skate deck features images McCarthy created in support of The Women’s March. Twenty percent of the proceeds will benefit the skating-based nonprofit Skateistan.

- Underscoring the artist’s interest in paper and feminine forms, Syracuse University Art Galleries has organized a selection of drawings and prints by Kiki Smith. Kiki Smith and Paper: The Body, the Muse, and the Spirit continues through March 9.
Charlottesville, NC
- Simple Passion, Complex Vision: The Darryl Atwell Collection, which features the work of Leonardo Drew, will close this Friday at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts & Culture. The exhibition is the first in the Center’s series highlighting African-American art collections.
Savannah, GA
- Carrie Mae Weems: Sea Islands Series, 1991-1992 opens Friday at the Jepson Center. The show includes 38 gelatin silver photographs, 12 text panels, and 12 ceramic plates by Weems and will be on view until May 6.
St. Louis, MO
- Wassan Al-Khudhairi, Chief Curator at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, has organized The Re-Evolving Door to the Moundverse. Featuring paintings, sculptures, and videos by Trenton Doyle Hancock, the exhibition runs through April 22.
San Francisco, CA
- Curated by Antoine de Beaupré, Art & Vinyl at the Fraenkel Gallery explores the connection between artists and musicians, and exclusively features works of art created for an album, composer, or musician. Cindy Sherman and Barbara Kruger are among the diverse list of artists in the show, on view until March 3.
Pasadena, CA
- Thursday, January 25 at 7:30 pm—Suzanne Hudson is presenting a lecture by Vija Celmins as the second event in ArtCenter’s 2018 Graduate Lecture series.
Saskatoon, Canada
- Thomas Hirschhorn’s What I can learn from you. What you can learn from me. is one of several projects commissioned for Canada’s new museum of modern art, Remai Modern. Opening Saturday, Hirschhorn’s project takes the form of a space intended for sharing ideas and skills amongst community members. The artist will be present in the space through the exhibition’s closing on February 25.
Zurich, Switzerland
- The Elliptical Glass at Häusler Contemporary presents a range of works from the 50-year career of light artist, James Turrell. The exhibition, opening this Thursday, will run through March 24.
Wassenaar, Netherlands
- On view through May 27, Museum Voorlinden is currently mounting a solo exhibition of work by Martin Puryear, the artist’s first museum show in Europe.
