This Week in Art 1.16-1.22: Three Art21 Artists Win Awards

Kerry James Marshall, Laurie Anderson, and Theaster Gates all won awards this week.

This week was all awards for Art21 artists. Kerry James Marshall was announced as the winner of this year’s CAA Artist Award for Distinguished Body of Work, and Laurie Anderson received the Award of Merit for Achievement in Performing Arts from the Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP). Plus, Season 8 artist Theaster Gates was announced as the 2017 winner of the Center for Architecture and Design’s Edmund N. Bacon Award, which honors one individual who has advocated for excellence in urban development, planning, thought, and design.
