Mark Bradford Inaugurates Nerman Lecture Series

Mark Bradford, Art in the Twenty-First Century (production still), 2007. Art21, Inc.

Season 4 artist Mark Bradford will be the inaugural speaker for the Jerome Nerman Lecture Series at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art in Overland Park, Kansas. Located on the Johnson County Community College (JCCC) campus, a reception with the artist precedes the 7pm lecture on Thursday, June 19. Both events are free and open to the public.

The museum is named for the Nerman family in recognition of their lead gift in 2003 to help found the art museum for JCCC. The annual lecture series will not only honor Jerome Nerman, chair of Central Bank in Kansas City and benefactor along with his wife, Margaret, but according to director Bruce Hartman will also encourage appreciation for and scholarship in contemporary art.
