Jenny Holzer Coming to Guggenheim

As Carol Vogel of the New York Times reported, Season 4 artist Jenny Holzer will be illuminating the façade of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum starting September 26. The work was commissioned by the museum to complete its three-year restoration of the Frank Lloyd Wright building.

This marks the first time the museum has commissioned a work that uses its iconic façade. Holzer’s last major installation at the museum was in 1989, when she banded the rotunda’s circular levels with a running LED scroller. For this go round, the artist plans to keep adding her signature truisms, poems, and texts throughout the course of the projection, in turn creating a sort of “library.”
