An exhibition of new works by Arturo Herrera (Season 3) opens tomorrow, October 18, at Sikkema Jenkins & Co. and runs through November 15, 2008. Unlike Herrera’s earlier works that lay flat against the wall, this exhibition features a series of wool felts that hang in tangled forms, falling away from the wall and spilling onto the floor. For this series of works, Herrera used shaped commercial cake molds that he then flattened and folded; the end result will be displayed in individual glass vitrines.
Herrera’s work will also be on view at the Prospect.1 biennial in New Orleans beginning November 1st.
