Special thanks to Julia Steinmetz for her series of clever and thoughtful posts, many of which took our own current Flash Points topic, “What is the value of art?

Up next is Kemi Ilesanmi. Kemi is the Associate Director for Grants and Services at Creative Capital Foundation, where she shepherds the process that selects new grantees and then works closely with them to realize their amazing projects. Prior to joining Creative Capital, she spent six years as a curator at the Walker Art Center where she organized several exhibitions, including To/From: Rivane Neuenschwander and The Squared Circle: Boxing in Contemporary Art, and ran the visual arts artist residency program, working with artists such as Julie Mehretu, Christian Marclay, and Robin Rhode.  Her writings have covered the likes of Glenn Ligon, Nari Ward, and Allora & Calzadilla.  When she’s not on Facebook or checking out the latest “art cinema,” she reads about the Obamas, looks at art, explores the far reaches of New York City, and serves on the boards of the Laundromat Project and None on Record.
