Next, we’re thrilled to welcome back an old friend of the Art21 Blog, former columnist Elizabeth Wolfson, who will be our next blogger-in-residence. Over the next two weeks, she’ll reflect on the contemporary art scene in Turkey, which she also covered through her column Turkish and Other Delights. Elizabeth is just returning home from a summer in Istanbul, and will begin her guest blog stint a bit later on this week.
Elizabeth is currently a doctoral student in the Department of American Studies at Brown University. Her work focuses on U.S.-Turkish transnational social and cultural history, with a particular interest in visual cultural production. Her past professional work includes positions at White Flag Projects in St. Louis, MO and in the education and curatorial departments of the Saint Louis Art Museum. She has worked as a freelance art writer since 2006, and began writing for the Art21 blog in 2010. While on a Fulbright grant in Turkey during the 2010-2011 academic year, she wrote the “Turkish and Other Delights” column for the website, which examined contemporary art practices in Istanbul and other areas of the country.
