This week we take a look at news exclusively about ART21 artists—the projects they’re working on, where their work is on view, and what’s being said by and about them.

• Marina Abramovic is spending today at the ancient theatre of Epidaurus in Peloponnese, Greece, filming scenes for a documentary on the life of legendary 20th century Greek-American soprano Maria Callas.
• Laurie Anderson performed for a canine audience on “The Late Show” last week, ahead of the release of her documentary Heart of a Dog on HBO April 25th, about the deaths of her mother, her husband, Lou Reed, and her rat terrier Lolabelle.
• William Kentridge is creating an 1,800-foot mural along the banks of the Tiber River in Rome entirely in reverse graffiti—a process in which a temporary mural is made by cleaning away the dirt of a design’s negative space. (There’s four days left in a Kickstarter raising funds for the project.)
• Gothamist takes readers inside Mark Dion’s exhibition at Tanya Bonakder Gallery, The Library for the Birds of New York, on view till April 16th.
• Jerry Gorovoy, Louise Bourgeois’ friend and assistant for 30 years, shares his lifetime of working with the artist.
• Russian feminist punk rock protest group Pussy Riot will be the first resident artists at Tania Bruguera‘s Institute of Artivism. The proposed Cuban institute and online platform is still $30,000 from its goal with 1o days to go on the artist’s Kickstarter campaign.
• Cai Guo-Qiang was named an “Asia Arts Game Changer” at an awards gala that opened this year’s Art Basel Hong Kong.

• Scenes for a New Heritage: Contemporary Art from the Collection, a group show at the MoMA featuring Thomas Hirschhorn, Cai Guo-Qiang, Alfredo Jaar, and Kara Walker is closing this Thursday, March 31st.
• The first solo museum exhibition in the U.S. by Cao Fei is opening this Sunday, April 3rd at MoMA PS1.

Cincinnati

• Passage, a solo exhibition of new work by Do Ho Suh is on view at the Cincinnati Contemporary Arts Center until September 11th.
• 30 Americans at The Cincinnati Art Museum is on view until August 28th and features the work of eight ART21 artists: Mark Bradford, Leonardo Drew, Rashid Johnson, Glenn Ligon, Kalup Linzy, Kerry James Marshall, Kara Walker, and Carrie Mae Weems.

USA

• MIAMI — Kalup Linzy‘s Kqueens Soul And Their Lullabies is on view at Vanity Projects until May 3rd.
• SAN DIEGO — Another solo exhibition by Do Ho Suh, this one a mid-career survey, is on view at The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego until July 4th. The artist will also be present for two screenings of his film Fallen Star: Finding Home, at UC San Diego on Tuesday, April 5th.
• LOS ANGELES — Catherine Opie’s O Portfolio is displayed in its entirety at LACMA through September 5th as a complement to Robert Mapplethorpe’s X, on view as part of the exhibition, Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Medium at the Getty Museum. [Read a review in Out Magazine.]

• HONG KONG — Shahzia Sikander: Apparatus of Power is on view at the Asia Society’s Hong Kong Center until July 9th. [Read a review in the South China Morning Post.]
• DOHA, QATAR— An exhibition of work by 15 contemporary Chinese artists, curated by Cai Guo-Qiang, is on view at the Qatar Museums’ QM Gallery Al Riwaq until July 16th. [See installation photos on designboom.]
• MOSCOW — Rashid Johnson’s Within Our Gates on view at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art until August 31st.
