This week it’s all about the art. At the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina last week, Carrie Mae Weems unveiled her new performance piece, Grace Notes: Reflections for Now: a combination of music, song, text, spoken word, and video projection that questions the role grace plays in the pursuit of democracy.
- Alfredo Jaar’s public installation A Logo for America is coming to Piccadilly Circus this summer as part of South London Gallery’s Under the Same Sun: Art from Latin America Today. The work has become an increasingly poignant statement about the United States’ rhetoric of domination, and with Trump at the top of the Republican ticket, exclusion.
- Mika Tajima’s new work Meridian (Gold), featuring a fuming pink hot tub, was declared by Artnet as the summer’s “hottest public artwork.” Installed at Hunter’s Point South Park in Long Island City, the SculptureCenter commission will remain on view till September 25th.
- And finally, watch as one of Cindy Sherman’s photographs is installed on a colossal scale as part of her new retrospective at The Broad in Los Angeles.

- A new group exhibition at Maccarone’s Morton Street gallery features the work of New York Close Up artist Keltie Ferris. Mai Masion is on view until August 12th.

- LOS ANGELES | June 16th-20th—Mark Dion stepped outside the studio to co-write and design the sets for the opera Anatomy Theater, opening this week.
