As this blog continues to grow, we are in the midst of bringing new writers into the mix. Art21 is thrilled to introduce Trong Gia Nguyen.
Trong is an artist and curator based in New York City. He has exhibited nationally and internationally in both solo and group exhibitions, including Conflux 2007 (Brooklyn), Sequences 2006 (Iceland), and Performa 05 (New York). Later this Fall, Trong will be doing a one-person show at the Fruit and Flower Deli (www.fruitandflowerdeli.com) on the Lower East Side. As a curator, he has organized numerous exhibitions, including “By Invitation Only” (Kinz, Tillou, + Feigen), “The Guy Debord Show” (New General Catalog), and “Who? Me?” (Zabriskie Gallery). Trong has received grants from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Harvestworks Digital Media Center, Bronx Museum of the Arts, and Puffin Foundation. He currently serves on the Fashion in Film Festival advisory board and has guest-lectured at Location One, New York University, Columbia University, Icelandic Art Academy, and Catalyst Foundation. In the lost hours of the night, Trong is writing a “lost chapter” to “The Da Vinci Code” based on the secret love life of Marcel Duchamp.
