Aptly timed for the election and Halloween, Season 8 Mexico City artist Pedro Reyes launches his “house of political horrors,” Doomocracy, this Friday at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The Creative Time project will run through November 6th, just two days before the general election. Also in the news this week:
- The Princeton University Art Museum commissioned multidisciplinary artist Shahzia Sikander to create a 66-foot mosaic as well as a 25-foot glass painting for their gallery space.
- And the Nasher Sculpture Center awarded Pierre Huyghe this year’s Nasher Sculpture Prize for the artist’s “expansive view of sculpture” that incorporates “living systems, films, situations and objects.”

- CHARLESTON, SC—The exhibition Beyond Catfish Row: The Art of Porgy and Bess, celebrating George Gershwin’s famous opera, features work by Kara Walker and will close this Sunday, October 9 at the Gibbes Museum of Art.
