Last week the Museum of Modern Art completed a rehang of all its fourth-floor galleries creating The Long Run, a new long-term exhibition comprised entirely of work by artists 45 and older. Highlighting the work of Lari Pittman, Joan Jonas, Louise Bourgeois, Vija Celmins, and Elizabeth Murray among others, the new exhibition reveals the ways in which artists’ investigations diverge as their work matures.

- Thursday, January 4 at 6:30pm—The Guggenheim will be screening Ai Weiwei’s 2007 film Fairytale 童话, in a special closing event for their event series, Turn It On: China on Film, 2000–2017.
Oslo, Norway
- This is the last week to see Restless Gestures: Works from the Hubert Looser Collection at Norway’s National Museum of Art. Featuring work by Willem de Kooning, Ellsworth Kelly, Robert Ryman, and Richard Serra, the exhibition closes this Sunday, January 7.
Sydney, Australia
- This Saturday, Katharina Grosse will be opening her long-awaited commission for Sydney’s Carriageworks: the third Schwartz Carriageworks visual arts project. Her monumental site-specific installation will be unveiled as part of the 2018 Sydney Festival, which will run until April 8, 2018. Grosse will also be giving a talk about the new work on Saturday, January 6 at 11am.
