Astria Suparak and Stephanie Syjuco

Astria Suparak has curated exhibitions, screenings, performances and live music events for art spaces, festivals, and publications internationally, including The Liverpool Biennial 2004, PS1, Eyebeam Art+Technology Center, Museo Rufino Tamayo, The Kitchen, Participant Inc, The 50th Internationale Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, and Exposition Chicago 2014, as well as for non-art spaces such as roller-skating rinks, ferry boats, elementary schools, sports bars, and rock clubs. Stephanie Syjuco was born in Manila, Philippines, in 1974. Syjuco works in photography, sculpture, and installation, moving from handmade and craft-inspired mediums to digital editing. Her work explores the tension between the authentic and the counterfeit, challenging deep-seated assumptions about history, race, and labor.
