Nonprofits are recognizing Art21 artists this week in their programming, events, and award ceremonies. The New York Foundation for the Arts just announced Season 3 artist Ida Applebroog as one of four 2017 inductees to NYFA’s Hall of Fame. NYFA Board Chair Judith K. Brodsky said she’s thrilled her organization is honoring “a fearless artist and feminist art heroine.”

- Trevor Paglen will be the Cantor Arts Center’s first artist-in-residence. The Season 7 artist is launching the new program with a performance during the FOG Design+Art Fair in San Francisco in January.
- Last week, Marina Abramović sat down to discuss her new documentary The Space in Between, which chronicles her travels t0 Brazil. In the Marie Claire interview, the performance artist shares how she believes the current political climate has impacted the role and responsibilities of artists.

NYC
- A new solo exhibition by Titus Kaphar opened last Friday at Jack Shainman Gallery. Shifting Skies juxtaposes historical portraiture with YouTube screenshots, investigating methods of recording and storytelling. The exhibition will be on view through January 28.
Cambridge, Mass.
- Harvard’s Cooper Gallery is currently exhibiting Carrie Mae Weems’ characteristically evocative photographs and videos in I once knew a girl…. The show is on view through January 7.
Salzburg, Austria
- Museum der Moderne presents a Raymond Pettibon retrospective. The exhibition, entitled Homo Americanus, will be on view through February 12, 2017.
Leuven, Belgium
- Comprised of black-and-white drawings done directly on the gallery wall, Mary Reid Kelley’s first solo exhibition in Belgium presents eclectic characters from both history and mythology. The show will close on January 8 at Museum Leuven.
