The Art21 Magazine launched in July 2007 as the Art21 Blog. It began as a way to share news on our PBS series and the artists we feature, but quickly expanded to incorporate one of the first guest blogging programs on the web. Guest bloggers have included artists, academics, curators, and leading contemporary arts writers who have re-defined the field in the digital age. For six years, this site welcomed more than a hundred guest bloggers, before evolving into theme-based issues in 2013.
BLOG ISSUES
The Art21 Blog began experimenting with issues in 2013, before a redesign transformed the site into the Art21 Magazine.
GUEST BLOGGERS
When our guest blogging program began in February 2008, a single writer was invited to contribute posts over the course of a period of time. This period began as one-week stretches, but expanded to two weeks in April 2008. In January 2013, that period grew to a full month ahead of the introduction of bi-monthly issues and redesign of the Art21 Magazine.
